FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Roofing Nail Tariff Update
June 17, 2019
Dear Valued Customer;
CMI (Continental Materials, Inc.) continues to provide our customers with quality products and timely deliveries, as well as the most up to date and accurate information to help support running your businesses effectively.
Tariff update – June 15th, 2019:
ENTRIES AS OF JUNE 15 NOW 25% TARIFF ON CHINESE NAILS
Background:
On May 31st, 2019 the United States Trade Representative (USTR) delayed the 15% tariff increase for the Section 301 List 3 goods until June 15th . The total tariff on those listed items would remain at 10% on goods shipped prior to May 10th, 2019 and to enter the US prior to June 15th. The additional 15% tariff on the Section 301 List 3 goods would not be effective until June 15th, 2019.
Updated information:
On June 15th, 2019 at 12:01AM the tariff increase from 10% to the proposed 25% was implemented on Section 301 List 3 goods. Any covered products that are exported from China or enter the United States on or after June 15th, 2019 are subject to the total 25% tariff.
While there may continue to be some uncertainty or confusion regarding the tariffs going forward, CMI will continue to monitor the situation carefully to make sure you are not charged any tariff cost that is not accurate. Below is a link to the previously announced tariff implementation extension to June 15th, 2019.
Going forward:
CMI will continue to be transparent regarding the treatment of tariffs. We provide a separate line item listing for the tariffs allowing our customers to see the impact and how we apply the tariff only to the FOB cost. We will not hide the charges in the price of the product. If the tariff ends up being less, our customers pay less. If the tariff ends up being zero at some point in time, then our customers would pay zero tariff.
Thank you for your continued support, and please feel free to call us if you have any questions at all.
