EG Roofing Nail Listing Change…
Abington, PA (03/16) – Today we received a memo from Miami-Dade County, Board and Code Administration Division regarding electrogalvanized (EG) roofing nails. I have included a copy of the memo for your review. The memo indicates that there has been some third party testing conducted of randomly selected samples from distribution locations that include some approved by Miami Dade County and some that were not. These samples were tested for corrosion pursuant to TAS 114. The results of the testing showed none of the samples tested from suppliers to the market passed the test. All products shipped into south Florida were not tested so we are working with the officials in Metro Dade to participate in an action plan to provide certainty to our customers that materials supplied by Continental Materials meet the requirements of TAS 114 Appendix E.
At this time all Miami-Dade listings for Electrogalvanized Roofing Fastener have been suspended. Until we have confirmed results, with additional testing that our products still meet the current standards, we have voluntarily suspended shipments into affected markets. New testing will take some time and most likely won’t be completed by the April 1st date suggested in the memo. We will be reaching out to affected customers individually to review the current situation.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and look forward to supporting your business requirements going forward. Though there is limited additional information at this time we will continue to keep you in the loop as we get more info and direction from Metro Dade.
