In the manufacturing and distribution world one item that may become more obvious at warehouses, as the COVID19 situation evolves, is that deliveries of containerized material to warehouse locations will continue and require someone to unload and receive the material(s). We do know, over the past 24 months, the new freight rules and regulations has made it tougher on deliveries due to the limited ‘free time’ associated with those changes.

COIL ROOFING NAILS: There is a lot of panic going on related to the COVID-19 (Corona Virus) and how it will affect Chinese nail shipments in addition to other products you may purchase that are produced there. We are getting calls from all over the US, “plants are shut down”, “nothing is being made”, “there is a severe shortage”, etc. None of this is accurate. You have to remember, a lot of the people in this business are just brokers, and they have no physical presence in China, have never been to a plant and honestly are not good for the business. These companies basically buy and sell material on the internet.

Supply Chain Impact Due to Coronavirus

Dear Valued Customer;

Many of the Chinese coil roofing nail and building material manufacturing plants have gradually re-opened after the extended Lunar New Year Holiday that was mandated by the Chinese government to help minimize the spread of ‘COVID-19’. Being open does not necessarily mean business as usual. Even this morning we were made aware that the plastic cap nail plants, which are mostly located in Tianjin, are still not open and are hoping to re-open February 17th and not be delayed further. Here is additional information from our contact with people on the ground in China:

New 301 Tariff Update/China Delays Update

On January 24, 2020, President Trump signed a declaration for an expansion of the Tariffs on Aluminum and Steel products that is noted in Annex I and Annex II respectively. These are covered under the previously implemented tariffs ordered under Section 232 and 301.
